Well, he’s officially here. Carter Joseph joined us on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 5:35am. He weighed 9 pounds and was 19 1/2″ long. The doctors in the operating room were laughing really hard when he was born because he was expected to be on the smaller side. He’s so handsome and we are completely in love. More than we ever thought possible.
I plan to document the birth story, but am not sure it is appropriate to share via the blog, so will decide once we get it written.
an hour or so old
It’s really hard to believe he is a week old already. We’re having so much fun with the handsome boy. He loves to eat and has already been sleeping in 4-5 hour stretches each night. Scott, Mimi, and Popop have saved my life. Mimi is a machine who is constantly cooking something, washing something or taking care of me. Popop is a fixer of all things around the house and loves to snuggle with the boy. Scott is great at soothing Carter when he’s mad, not sleepy, or just plain cranky. My support is truly that. Amazing!
Carter LOVES to snuggle. He’ll nuzzle his face into anyone’s neck and just sleep on your chest for hours if you let him.
He and I get a few minutes of good eye contact and it just makes my heart melt. Each day I can tell he is able to focus more and more on details and his eyes are full of wonder.

Well what a precious little fella. Carter welcome to the world. You are going to meet so many friends over Christmas. We can’t wait to get our hands on you. We love you Carter.
I’m sure your parents have the grandbaby helping down by now! Nice work waiting till 3 were already born to have one……they know it all by now!!! What fun to have a boy join the mix! Glad he was so healthy. Can’t but breath a sigh of relief with a healthy 9 pounder! No need to worry about him loosing weight if he gets sick! And you don’t have to wake them up for feeding! Enjoy these special moments with Carter. They pass all too quickly! Way to go mama!!!!!!!
